So yesterday was a day on great adventure and "flash backs". I played for middle school kids during a guitar class. Rather interesting experience I might add. Had a good time as well.

Firstly, when I arrived I was shown to the music room which you had to cut through the outside cafeteria in order to get to it. Lunch was in session, so the cafeteria was full. Walking around a swarm of kids in middle school made it more apparent to me that I physically stopped growing in Junior High. Seemed to have forgotten about that. Needless to say there were some looks in my direction.

Then, I set up my equipment, and started playing my first song. The song was done, loads of hands go up for questions. Questions that consisted of, "What's your favorite color, favorite animal, when's your Birthday?" I answered all of them to the best of my ability. Honest, of course. Later the music questions started to eek their way to the surface. They were some good questions. To my surprise, today's youth really loves the Eighties. I mean they really do. Guns and Roses, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Metallica, even got a request for Warrant. You name it, these kids want to hear it.

What makes these bands so special to stand the test of time?They rock their asses off all night every night, and the occasional day time show. Through good times and bad, it's about the rock! That and Guitar Hero might have a tiny fraction of contribution to that equation (reaching the new millennium babies anyway). But rockin your ass off every day is a good thing. I shoot for that every time I play. Sometimes I get tired, but that's inevitable. So don't stop Rockin!
