About a year ago my mother and I participated in a mud obstacle corse. It was three miles and about fifty different obstacles. Having never done any type of race before I thought there's no way I would finish. That's a lot of obstacles going up hill and I haven't ran a mile in about five years. There's just no way. The only training we did was six days of Tapout XT. It seemed to work because we got to the finish line feeling awesome. It was no record time but we finished, and had lots of fun doing so.
There are lots of things that we don't even attempt because in our minds it's not a possibility. I never thought I would or could do a race. But I made myself, with the only intention of finishing. If I wanted first place (which they didn't calculate thank goodness) I definitely would have trained way more. That and run a race that gives out trophies. Regardless, I was stoked to have made it to the end felling great afterwards.
I find I do that with song writing. I'll start a song with the only intention to finish it. It doesn't matter what it's about, the style, just complete it to the best of my ability. I find it makes the outcome way more exciting, as well as the journey to the "finish line." So if there's something you've always wanted to try just go for it. As long as it doesn't include endangering yourself and/or others. What was something that you've done that you never thought you could do, or something you really want to try?
Cheers,
Tajlyn
